World Aids Day: 2018

The highlight of the program was the announcement, after testing, that all the children, sons and daughters of the participants, were found to be HIV negative. It was a moment of joy and celebration, of thanksgiving to God.

To mark the 2018 International Day of awareness of HIV and AIDS, Hope for the Village Child Foundation focused their program this year on clients who are affected and infected by the disease. The importance of knowing one’s status, the theme of this year, is especially significant for families in which one member is infected. In the light of that, the organization this year wanted to place emphasis on this aspect.

Participants were invited to share their experiences, and there were moving accounts from among those who shared. For all those who shared, what was the resounding theme was that the acceptance they received from others, whether spouses, family, friends, medical personnel or colleagues, was the factor that helped them the most, more than any medicine. They thanked the organization for the assistance they have received, as well as the agencies that assist them with medicine.

Visitors from the Kujama Local Government stressed the importance of adhering to their treatment protocol, and of seeking help when needed. The Head of the Health Unit assured the participants that they should never fear coming to the clinic when they have questions or need any help. She said they should see it as a home.
