Dominican Sisters of Peace, members of the Order of Preachers, are vowed Catholic Sisters who strive to live a life of peace-making wherever we are and in everything we do. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” (John 14:27) Jesus’ words in John’s Gospel are our prayer for the world.
Rev. Sr. Francine Schwarzenberger, a Sister with the Dominican Sisters of Peace, visited Hope for The Village Child Foundation. She is the blood sister of our Director, Sr. Rita Schwarzenberger.
During her visit, she visited some of the communities in which Hope for The Village Child Foundation works; she also visited some schools to see the E-Readers program, books that were donated and buildings done by Hope for The Village Child Foundation, and of course, see the children in their environment. Livingkindness Center for Learning was a highlight of her visits, where she saw computers used to teach children simple concepts and also see the young people who are learning skills to improve agriculture. In her experience, during the visit to the communities, she added, “I love to see people who are helped by HVCF and how the staff work together to put the goal of the organization into practice.” She also stated that she loves to see people walk into the organization feeling secure and the smiles on their faces when leaving.
She did not mention that among her experiences were really experiencing the effect of the rainy season, having the vehicles stuck in the mud on two of those journeys. It was a farming experience, something in tune with the environment of her birth.
